Ski Hut Women's Trail Series

When I began working with Ski Hut I saw a gap in offered programing for female mountain bikers in the Duluth area. When I started mountain biking it was a lot of trial and error riding with my guy friends who often would bike ahead and just wait for me at the next intersection. I wanted to create a space for women to meet other women biking and a safe space to learn, ask questions, and get stoked on biking - without the barrier of it being a paid experience.

Now in it's third year, Women's Trail Series consistently has over 20 women attend each event in the summers-long series. With the hundreds of miles of trail within city limits, we visit many of the major trailheads through the summer. What makes this event series extra special is the women who help make it happen, our team of PMBIA certified instructors in adition to Ski Hut's female mechanics. We start each event with a mini maintenance clinic focusing on the "ABC's" to check before you head out for a ride to fixing a flat on the trail. After that the coaches break up the group into beginner and intermediate/advanced riders to work on a skills clinic specific to that day's trailhead. Then we put those skills to use with a group ride!
